IATA, The Weather Company Prepare to Share Turbulence Data with Airlines… The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is partnering with The Weather Company, the developer of The Weather Channel app, in order to share turbulence data with pilots. Thanks to data collected from 21 participating airlines, pilots will soon be able to choose flight paths that avoid turbulence as much as possible, IATA said.

ASAE Holding Professional Development Instruction Session in D.C… Sessions held in the J.W. Marriott, Jr.-ASAE Conference Center will explore connecting with broad and dispersed audiences, data, foundation laying, learning from successes and failures and more. More information on the April 10 event is available here.

Several Hotels Set to Open Near Convention Centers in 2024… With meetings and events returning to a pre-pandemic rhythm, the 2024 hotel openings include the following: the first Renaissance property in Hawaii; a Caesars Entertainment hotel in Arizona, the first property for the brand not affiliated with a casino; forthcoming entertainment titan VAI Resort; and the long-anticipated Aloft hotel in New York City’s Hudson Yards.

David Patterson Retires as Executive Director of Terre Haute CVB… Patterson has led the west central Indiana bureau for three decades. During his tenure, Terre Haute developed a reputation as a sports town destination. His retirement is scheduled for April 1, and the board is currently in the process of planning for the transition.

HOTS King of Monday Morning… Peter King, the esteemed pro football columnist who formerly penned the “Monday Morning Quarterback” column at Sports Illustrated, announced in his February 26 Football Morning in America (FMIA) column on NBC’s Pro Football Talk that he was retiring. King wrote: “I’m retiring*. I use an asterisk because I truly don’t know what the future holds for me. I probably will work at something, but as I write this I have no idea what it will be. Maybe it will be something in the media world, but just not Football Morning in America (nee Monday Morning Quarterback).” King, 66, has covered 40 consecutive Super Bowls and said family and a variety of professional considerations led to his decision. HOTS is appreciative so many of you start your Tuesday and Thursday mornings here, and it is so grateful so many of HOTS’ Mondays started with King.
