Hotel Strikes in San Francisco End… Following 93 days of strikes, about 2,500 hotel workers in San Francisco have ratified a new agreement with Hilton, Hyatt and Marriott branded hotels. The new four-year contract maintains hotel employees’ health insurance plans, institutes wage increases and adds new protections against understaffing and workload increases.

The new brand was revealed at the organization’s 2024 Annual General Meeting.
HOTS Chess Ciao… World chess number one Magnus Carlsen quit the Fide World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships in New York recently after being told he couldn't wear jeans. The grandmaster was defending his title when the incident occurred, SKY News reports. Carlsen, 34, who was in a jacket and shirt, said he didn’t think about the jeans and told officials he’d change the next day. They told him he had to change then, and Carlsen said it “became a bit of a matter of principle for me.” As a chess player, HOTS had to check out this story.
